Windows 3.1 Modem & E-mail Setup
|

NOTE:
This
setup sheet assumes you have a properly installed and working modem.
- Go into Windows by typing WIN at your DOS prompt.
- Insert the disk provided by Preferred Systems into your
floppy drive.
- Click on the FILE menu and go down to RUN.
- In the box type in A:\SETUP.EXE (or B:\SETUP.EXE if your
floppy is b drive).
- When the Preferred Systems Internet Services screen comes
up click the "Continue" button.
- On the next screen you can enter a place to install the
software. It is recommended that you leave it like it is.
- When the "Destination Group" screen comes up just click on
"Continue".
- The setup program will now copy files to your computer.
- Click on the "Preferred Systems" group in the Program
Manager.
- Double click on the WINSOCK icon.
- Click on the FILE menu and go down to SETUP.
- Find the SLIP Port box on the screen that comes up.
- Enter the COM Port of your modem in the SLIP Port box (this
should be either 1, 2, 3, or 4).
- Click the OK button and the go to the FILE menu and go to
EXIT.
- Double click on the WINSOCK icon again.
- Click on the DIALER menu and thne go down and click on
SETUP.CMD.
- When the Telephone Number box comes up enter one of the
following from our listing Pop
Locations and Numbers.
