PCINW TROOPER Network Monitoring Tool
If you are managing a
network you’ll appreciate the Trooper.
The PCINW Trooper Network Monitoring Tool was originally developed
by the PCINW technical staff to manage our Internet network. Creating the Trooper involved using several carefully
selected open source programs and many hours of customized programming. Now we are helping others who manage networks
by providing them the tools they need.
Using a web based
interface the Trooper reveals important details about network traffic.
You can look at a
general overview or specific details
Who is on the network, sort by computer IP address,
inventory of switches and routers, control physical ports without going to the
command line
How much traffic is on the network, time of day, historical
reports, packets per second
What type of traffic is on the network, details corporate
traffic vs internet traffic, protocols,
what ports are open, sessions between computers, view websites visited by a
user, replay what happened on your network, monitor the graphics on the
network, enforce acceptable use policies
Who is using the bandwidth, who are the power users, builds
trends and history
What is the status of the servers on the network-memory,
drive space, disk space, load averages, number of users, processor utilization,
number of processes, how much data storage do I need for back ups
Chart the growth of the network, annual, monthly, daily, justify
network upgrades
What is the network security doing, monitor firewall logs,
adjust alert thresholds, modify security changes, isolate offending packets,
view color coded graphs that illustrate a virus or worm, see the denials,
intentionally abuse your network to see if there are any security holes,
generate a report of vulnerability found and links to go to, block specific
traffic, applications or websites
What is the health of the network, heartbeat feature, run
ping packets
Enable visual, audio and email alerts
Obtain access to the national vulnerability database,
security patches, os patches, kernel updates
New regulations
require that your network be compliant with laws such as HIPA
(health insurance portability and accountability act) and CALEA (communications assistance for law
enforcement act). If a law enforcement
agency requires information on your network the Trooper is there to help.
The Trooper can isolate the information being requested and
you have the benefit of our assistance.
The Trooper is
offered in four different models; Cadet, Patrol, Sergeant and Detective. Each installation is designed based on the
security and monitoring needs of your network.
The Trooper can be configured as a firewall or just as a monitor
of your existing firewall. Some Trooper installations require custom
programming for your particular requirements. The PCINW engineering staff will
assist you in designing and implementing your own Trooper system.
Software programs are
loaded on a standardized server that you provide or we provide. The Trooper is connected to the span or
monitor port on your local area switch or can be connected to an optional
switch.
Because network traffic doesn’t have to flow through the
Trooper, the tool is not a point of failure on the network.
The Trooper support
contract covers software updates, security and OS patches, kernel updates and
includes incident support when you need it.
Take advantage of our extensive experience. Our tools are time tested and proven. We charge a fraction of what the hardware
manufacturers charge for their monitoring tools and our tools are much easier
to use. Using the Trooper is as easy as
looking at a web page.
Call us for more information or to schedule a demonstration
of the Trooper.
